Glastonbury Festival

It is the most enjoyable festival-- Glastonbury festival. You worth to join.
I am doing a research about the Glastonbury Festival. It is a succeeded show and a great example to analyse.

Introduction

In 1970, in Glastonbury, one of the most famous music festival in the world. It starts its journey, starts rock the world!  The farmer Michael Eavis in 1970 risking the danger for his own animals to kill by fans, invited the popular T Rex front man Marc Bolan go to a small farm held the first small concert,  then to officially organize the second year; but it wasn't called the Glastonbury Festival. It called Pilton Festival, and 1,500 spectators to attend.

Glastonbury is the name of a small town, located Somerset Mendip in southwest England. The festival is organized in the exact location of a small village in southwest England Pilton and Pylle between the Worthy Farm, six miles east of Glastonbury.

Since 1981, the festival run  by local farmers and Mike Davis's company Mike Davis and  his wife were the company managers and run by them before his wife Jean dead in 1999, after that him moved control to his daughter, Emily Eavis. Since 2002, the Festival Republic took over its 40% stake in the company, to responsible for the logistical and security of festival. Most of Glastonbury Festival Limited Company's profits to charity donations.

The festival always managed by volunteers, but except technical men and security guys. More than 1,700 managers have come from the charity Oxfam. As the work of the appropriate return, Oxfam will receive contributions from the festival, in the years received a total of 200,000 pounds.

Some of stages and fields are quite independent, they manage everything by itself. For example, Worthy FM field is run by Greenpeace . In recent years, the venue became the scene of a limited mixed background, the pyramid at the northern end ofthe stage, "other stage " in the south. East of the site have unplugged tent, comedy and circus tents. The southern end of the Green Fields exhibited some of the traditional and environmentally friendly craft. King's Meadow on the southern top of the hill, there is a small circle of stone. And like the famous, like Stonehenge, since 1990 there will be an activities at the summer solstice, called  "Stone Circle".
Main-Body
That just a little bit research from internet. Most of them from wikipedia. I want to talk about the influence, develop also the security.
Influence
The influence of Glastonbury Festival, I think it will be the biggest part, fashion it is.There are so many celebrities went to Glastonbury Festival, go to Glastonbury Festival or going to. They are the people who controls a fashion show, guide people how to wear fashion.
For example,Kate Moss and her ex-boyfriend Pete Doherty in Glastonbury Festival wearing Hunter Boots's Festival photo board on "Vogue", this pair of boots were only dozen dollars, it just a plastic boots, just because of Kate Moss wear it, and looks so amazing, then bsnapped out of stockThe second season of Celine, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs and other luxury brands have launched aspecial limited edition boots, this pair of boots seems never relate to any fashion but just begins fashion in the mud; because Glastonbury festival, it has become the most popular single product last years.
Even now, people still love to wear a pair of Hunter Boots when they go to Glastonbury Festival. Not only was it fashion, but also it is practical to wear in the festival. It just a festival item that seems everyone must have. As everyone knows, every year there will be and always be a heavy rain during the festival. Boots could keep your feet nice and dry.

In fact, the music festival is not just fashion detonated only Hunter Boots, the initiatordoes not just Kate Moss. In the 70s Woodstock was the heyday of music festivals, small floral dress, knitting Tousheng wide faded pants, leather boots is the most hollow wave of the "Music Festival Look ", also Bohemian style dress Will become a classic style of dress. Musicians and fans, and "pseudo-fans"who are allmaverick style of dress fashion inspiration provided.

Develop and security

Glastonbury Festival grows bigger and bigger every years. More people knows it, try to join in. Tickets gone to sell and sold out within one day. To get a ticket become difficult each years. People have to wait infront of computer, just for to get a entry ticket.
When it first started, the price of ticket was £1 plus milk. 1500 of people attended. Held in the second year to attract tourists throughout the country has actually become the Midsummer Music Festival, the predecessor of the modern. In Arabella Churchill with the help of Andrew Kerr organized a rally Glastonbury Fayre, but is not a festival. Including the concept of Bill Harkin concept of the pyramid stage, set up by the completion of scaffolding and metal coating. Performers include David Bowie, Traffic band, Fairport Convention, the Quintessence band and Melanie Safka. Festival sponsored by a supporter, and advocate their own ideas, covering the medieval music, dance, poetry, drama, lights and spontaneous entertainment. The festival was in 1971, Nicolas Roeg and David Puttnam film records, and then release the film "Glastonbury Fayre".

In the 1980s, Glastonbury Festival has begun to be fixed (except for periodic fallow years away). In 1981, Mike Eavis for the first time to manage the festival, and is associated with the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. The stage was re-built the pyramids by the abandoned poles and the Department of Defense's metal construction, has become a fixed facility.
Festival made its first profit in 1981, Mike Eavis donated £ 20,000 to the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. In the ensuing years, the festival has made donations to many organizations.

Since 1983, large-scale festival activities require permission from local council, which led to the festival some of the restrictions, including the number of organizations need to control the crowd and some specific time. Initially limited to 3 million people, but growing up to 10 million people. In 1985, the rapid growth of population makes the Worthy farm bought the
neighbor farm "Cockmill".

When the 20th anniversary of Glastonbury Festival in 1990, that was the largest ever festival, festival put on more contemporary performing arts, reflecting the trend of diversification. However, tourists and security personnel the end of the confrontation and violence (known as the so-called "The Battle of Yeoman's Bridge"), because of that violence, the organizers decided to cancel the second year festival 1991. Festival back in 1992, and was proved to be a huge success. The music festival for the first time built a solid wall, making the new age travellers can not be free access to the festival venue. The end of the Cold War, the object is donated to the Oxfam and Greenpeace. They also brought a festive character and volunteers.

In 1994, the week before the upcoming holidays, the pyramid stage was burned. Fortunately, before the Festival, sponsored by a local company set up a temporary main stage. Festival for the first time a 150 kW wind power generator, used to power the main stage area. On June 26 also set a world record, 826 people simultaneously juggling, making 2478 the object while in the air. British four first time provides Glastonbury on television, to some extent the impact of expanding the festival. Levellers front of the stage to create the highest number until today, Orbital's headline performance also makes the band famous.

In 2000 there were 25 million people join Glastonbury festival but that only 10 million tickets gone to sale on the market, so it means that rest 15 million people join in without ticket. This led to public safety concerns, refused to permit local councils until the problem is resolved. And because Roskilde Festival 2000 occurred in the accident, organizers then canceled the festival in 2001 and developed a future anti-fare evasion measures to protect the safety of the festival. Mean Fiddler Organisation, Festival Republic's predecessor was invited to help at this time.

In 2002, the festival come back. Mean Fiddler Organisation in charge of logistics and security, in a large number of the installed fencing around the site (known as super-fence) will reduce the number to ten years ago. Because so few attended the festive atmosphere is quite relaxed, but crime levels have decreased compared to previous years a large scale. Outside the fence there are some incidents, mainly relating to persons who plan to come to nothing, they think they can refer to the fence. But in addition, this session of the festival is supported by the media called for the very successful. In 2002 the first time, the band Coldplay performing on stage in the pyramid.

Bigger area, more people could join in, but there still lot more people wanted to join in. they are the unsafety factor for the festival.
